Nothing but fun!

A few more pictures from the apartment that I stayed at in Santiago

Picture during our hike :)

They took me out to dinner... probably the fanciest dinner I have ever had!

All of us at dinner

The desserts!

Jamie and I together, getting ready to start our adventure

Singing happy birthday to Jamie during her birthday lunch in Santiago

Fish market in Santiago

Fruits and veggies market

Flower market

This was Valdivia (the city we flew into from Santiago to begin our time in the Lakes District)

Our first hostel in Puerto Varas (we took the bus from Valdivia down to Puerto Varas)

Morning view

The bakery where we had breakfast in Puerto Varas

Lago Todos los Santos (All Saints Lake) ... About a 30 minute bus ride from Puerto Varas

View from our hostel number two in Ancud (which is on the island of Chiloé).  We rode the ferry to this island

The hostel

Another gorgeous morning!

Castro, which is the capital of the Chiloé district.  This was about a two hour bus ride south of Ancud.

Our hostel is the middle yellow-sided building

My favorite hostel that we stayed at... the beds were delightful!

This is the traditional Chiloé meal, which is called "curanto."  It consisted of an enormous amount of clams, a whole sausage, and a whole potato.  I almost managed to eat it all.

Morning view from our hostel balcony in Castro

We went to the Chiloé National Park, which was about a 45 minute bus ride from Castro.

I enjoyed the flowers!

We explored the nearby town after Chiloé National Park, and of course I needed a photo of this cat.

Our walk through the very rural town in order to get to the beach.

We made it!

On our walk back to catch the bus :)

After we rode the bus back up to Valdivia to catch our flight out the next morning, we experienced our first night of rain.  We went to the famous brewery in town and showed up completely soaked!

Back in Santiago with the book that guided us throughout our travels.  We took it with us everywhere!

Second time up the hill, but this time on foot.

The airline employee gave Jamie two VIP passes to the lounge because of the long wait in the Air Canada line while she was checking in for her flight back to the U.S.  We enjoyed this a lot!

Just about to board my plane back to the U.S.... I had a stiff neck and this was the position of my head the entire day.  I got lots of looks and questions about what was wrong with me.  But the Starbucks was fantastic :)

And that's it!  Thank you for following me while I was away.  What an experience it was!
